The number of mares bred in 2009 has now been tallied. The KFPS has received notice of 6655 mares bred, but this is a preliminary indication since other foals born that year have yet to be registered on the basis of DNA verification. As compared to 2008, the number of mares bred in 2009 dropped by around 10%. A bar chart is enclosed to indicate how these figures have developed over the last 15 years. The number of mares bred in 2002 and 2003 was extremely high. In most of these years the number of mares bred ranged from 7000 to 7500.

Go to the breeding and foal information 2009 At first, it seems that four stallions exceeded their breeding limit. Tietse 428 has 250 services listed under his name. However, the number of services provided by this stallion within the EU comes to just 180. He serviced a considerable number of mares outside of the EU in countries such as the Even after deducting their services outside the EU, Maurus 441 and Stendert 447 exceeded their breeding limits, Maurus by 1 and Stendert by 7 services.
